We set this blog up to share our big adventure with friends and family. For those of you who may not know us all we’re the Haiarts: Seb (dad), Hanika (mum), Moose (eldest) and Ollie (youngest).
In August 2019 we’re leaving our life in Darwin, putting our belongings in storage and flying to North America for an epic 5 month holiday. For 4 months we’ll be cruising around America in a van.
Why? Well, why not! We’ve put in a lot at work recently which meant sacrificing years not seeing each other due to exams, remote posting and shift work. This 6 month block seemed to coincide with a move back to Adelaide so we thought we’d use the opportunity to take a break.
Hanika and I are both avid travellers and figured we could just add two kids to the mix. We thought about India but frankly lacked the confidence. We looked into Europe but that didn’t pan out. Australia seemed to vast and the distances too great to deal with a 10 month old. In the end we settled on North America. It’s home to Seb, diverse in geography and people, English speaking with long distances that are punctuated with small towns.
Follow us as we explore Canada and the USA with side trips to Mexico and Hong Kong!
